>> stay with us for "good morning america." have a great wednesday. >> live and in hd, this is "good morning washington," on your side. >> straight ahead a renewed search for answers in to the unsolved murders of two teenagers in prince george's county. an event this evening to raise awareness. a sad day for students at a local high school. they prepared to remember one of their own found dead inside a home with other relatives in herndon. police are trying to determine what led to the tragedy. good morning, washington. it's wednesday september 26. i'm brad bell. let's get to jacqui jeras. >> good morning. we have wet. weather to wet light rain showers moving across

the metro. -- we have wet weather to start. it's pushing to the east, nothing heavy. we are seeing showers off and on throughout the day. the large majority of the day will end up being dry. much warmer as well. look at the temperatures. in the '60s. yesterday morning we were in the 50's. the express forecast, mostly cloudy, some isolated showers 78 degrees by noon. 82 by 5:00. let's check on traffic with angela. >> good morning. you mentioned the light rain. it's a good thing the overnight construction zones are pretty much out of the way around the beltway in maryland threw montgomery and prince george's counties. a couple active work zones in virginia still. very light so far.

you will find work zone still active on northbound 95 between falmouth and frederick's. -- frederick. and on the beltway in virginia in both directions near route 7. those ramps should open momentarily. now let's go back to news. >> one man is dead and another wounded in a shooting in southeast washington. it happened before midnight in the 5000 block of h street. we don't know what led to the shooting or if police have a suspect. investigators and community members will come together tonight to search for answers in two unsolved murders in prince george's county. police will hand out flyers seeking information about amber stanley's murder during a community walk in kettering. the 17-year-old high-school student was shot and killed in

her bedroom on august 22. her killer is still almost. prince george's county police will hold a community meeting tonight to brief president on where things stand in the search for another teenager's killer. marckel ross was shot and killed on september 11 as he walked to central high school in capitol heights. investigators are searching for suspects. tonight's meeting is at 7:00 at central high school. d.c. public service commission set to vote this afternoon on pepco's proposed rate hike. members of an advocacy group last night rallied outside the headquarters in downtown washington. pepco workers are expected to vote today on the union contract. if the deal is not reached, they could go on strike. this would be the first strike by them since 1985. the main sticking point is a changed to their health and welfare plans. a meeting today in d.c. on a

plan to put power lines underground to reduce future storm related power outages. the mayor's task force is holding the meeting at room g9 of the wilson building. it's open to the public and will begin at 2:00 p.m. we are following a developing story in herndon. a candlelight vigil will be held tonight for a family of four found dead inside their home. it's not clear what led to it. two parents and two school-age children. police were responding to a welfare check yesterday when they found the bodies in the house on point rider lane. neighbors are shocked. >> it's really sad. i don't even know how to explain it. >> there are no answers in herndon. late tuesday night investigators continued to gather evidence inside the home. earlier in the day, police found an entire family, two parents

and two sons dead inside the house. the older brother attended westfield high school and his younger brother went to middle school. the parents or often seen sitting in chairs on the front porch and there were known in the community as the neighborhood greeterws. -- greeters. >> i always would wave to him. >> police say the public is not in danger, which typically means the person responsible is no longer live. >> it is so shocking especially the children. they had their whole lives. it's tragic. >> if there was turmoil within the home, those outside the family were not aware. >> there were always nice. nobody in the neighborhood ever saw them fighting or are doing or anything like that.

>> authorities have not released a motive or the identities of the victim's. from looking at social media westfield high school students are talking about wearing black to school on wednesday. jay korff reporting. breaking news from afghanistan. jummy olabanji has details. >> nato confirms two service members were killed this morning during an insurgent attacks in afghanistan. the two troops were members of the international military coalition. we of not received any details about them. nato says they were attacked by militants in the eastern section of afghanistan. nato has not released the nationalities of the two soldiers killed. 285 nato service members have been killed in that country this year. back to you. >> thank you. the race for the white house

later today both candidates will campaign in the battleground state of ohio. recent polls show president obama holds a lead over romney in the tri-state. both are scheduled to campaign tomorrow in virginia. the president will be in virginia beach while romney will hold a rally in springfield. in business news, bank of america is dealing with foreclosed homes, and more americans are feeling secure. more from linda bell. >> stock-index futures indicating open. little changed. 43% of americans see themselves as better off now compared with 33% when president obama took office in 2009. what is interesting is asixbank of
